My '71 Mach has eaten a pair of coils over the last week. The one that died first was about a year old, and the second may have been going bad to start with. Both were repro yellow-top coils. I had a more modern, slightly used, Autolite coil sitting around the garage that I've since installed yesterday, and so far it holds the record (2 days with no problems).
Any idea? I seem to remember that those repop yellow-tops can be problematic. I want to use a good-quality coil that can pass for stock (you can't see the top with the ram-air air cleaner mounted on the engine anyway) so just a black body is sufficient. The points and plug wires are less than a year old, all connections are good, tight and clean.
