RE: [Classic Mustang] body sealer

I'd suggest you go to your autobody supply house or online and look at Fusor, produced by Lord.   They make a number of two part adhesives, including metal to metal (I've glued patch panels together on some projects and the stuff works *very* well).  Not cheap however. A less than standard size tube(s) are like $35.  And you need a special gun and some tips.

Duramix may be a similar product by another mfg.   3M makes adhesives especially for plastic and urethane panels as well, they may also have something for fiberglass to metal.  In any case, you will have to remove all paint coatings and scuff the surface with a coarse abrasive to give it some tooth.  I use 36 grit with Fusor....

is duramix the same stuff that is used to adhere bedsides on with ,,, that is what I am really askin about ,,,,I know about butyl and caulk,,,, and the reason for not wanting to use body filler or fiberglass had nothing to do with my expertise in using it or lack there of
...if I wanted to mold them in with bondo or glass,, ,I would have already done that.... I am just asking about adhering them to the car ... the reason I am replacing is the stand alone stud and screws the originals were attached with are not very secure and that is why the originals are broken.......

Hello,Seam sealer is about the most permanent caulk for auto body & it's
paintable.Butyl is the black stuff they glue windshields in with & sticks to
about everything.* TIP* Keep your finger wet with Orange Juice to smooth
bead.Good Luck,Richard
