[Classic Mustang] And while we are in the cam neighborhood

Do not ever run a stock chain set longer than it takes to get home and
change it. It is a very weak link. As soon as you install it, it
starts to stretch, and one day it jumps a tooth or two, and you go home
on a flat bed, while the rest of the engine is still in great shape.

At least get a double roller. Ford sells one by Cloys(sic) for a 460
that has five keyways, so it is adjustable +-4 and +-8. And reasonably
priced. I am running several of those. I don't know if Ford has
anything for small blocks, but other vendors do.

For my next engine I am returning to my roots. The first engine I
owned, and built, had direct gear drive - 48 flathead. I now have two
Ford diesels with direct gear drive. Gear drives are now rather reasonable.

Have fun

Ray
