[Classic Mustang] '72 Spacesaver spare?

I just bought a '72 Q Code convertible and it has the spacesaver spare with air can.

The guy told me it's a very valuable item. Is this true?
If so, I think for everyday cruising, I'll take it out and put a regular spare in there, but put it back in for shows.
