Re: [Classic Mustang] Please help me
I experienced a similar problem years ago with a different car. As suggested, try replacing the fuel filter. If the problem persists, it's possible rust in the gas tank is clogging the "sock" which is essentially a filer on the pickup. When I had the problem it didn't occur until I was down to 1/4 tank. Above that it would act normally. Eventually it got to the point where I could only drive the car a mile or so and then it would die regardless of how much fuel was in the tank. I've put two tanks in my 65 Mustang since 1977 so it's not out of the realm of possibility you have rust or other debris in the tank causing the sock to clog. Once you let the car sit long enough for fuel pressure to drop enough crud falls off the sock the engine will start but once it picks up the debris again, the engine dies.
