Phil, I would think it really depends on how good your mechanical skills are.  I agree if you buy a long block you will get other things that you maybe would not replace.  My personal and professional experience tell me I will always do it myself. When I do that, along with a trusted machine shop, I personally know what happened to that engine, I know all specs are right.  I trust my abilities and I really think that because it is going in my car, that I am the best person to build it.  I give my personal builds a better warranty than I could buy elsewhere.  Phil

Hello Guys , My thoughts on this topic are , DON`T do that , But a new
long block from a place like Schucks , You get a bran new engine , cost is
a bit high but subtract the price of what you say your motor needs and
overall cost is not so bad , Plus you get a ' clean engine bay '
detail the engine ! , paint factory colors , put new stickers on
assesories , Phil
