Re: [Classic Mustang] Holley vs Edelbrock

Hello,
Years ago, I had a 650 Holley vacuum secondary on my '68 daily driver.  It had been jetted wildly by a previous owner which made it bog when the pedal was stomped.  I swapped the Holley for a new in the box, Edelbrock (Carter AFB clone).  The Edelbrock frequently starved the engine, especially with cornering under acceleration.  I promptly put the worn out Holley back on.
The Edelbrock design is less likely to leak however, due to gasket above fuel level & may be better for "sunny day" cars.
Honestly these days I prefer a GM TBI which can be bought used for under $100, has a wide variety of programmable performance options, can fit 2 or 4V intakes, takes up no more space than a carb, offers optimal fuel economy, dependability, etc.  Biggest requirement is your engine has electronic ignition or similar device.
I have one on my '33 Ford roadster w/ a stroked '42 Flathead & putting one on my '56 Olds 88, 2dr htp with original 324 V8.
My 2 cents,
Richard
