[Classic Mustang] 64.5 speedometor

Hello to all. I have an 64.5 coupe w/289, manual 4 speed. I don't know the route that the speedometer cable takes to get to the speedometer from the transmission.I have looked at alot of pictures but it always disappears near the fire wall. I have looked for a hole in the fire wall near the speedometer but don't find one. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
