[Classic Mustang] trying to remove hub from spindle - it's stuck

I need some help. I am trying to get the rotor/hub off the spindle - front right wheel - on my 65 Fastback (front disc brakes). I removed the grease cap, pin, lock, nut, and washer. The outer bearing cone/roller and outer bearing cup should come out next before removing the hub. But the outer bearing isn't moving. I can pull the hub pretty far out on the spindle but it won't come all the way off - it's getting caught on something - I assume the outer bearing. Any special trick to getting the outer bearing off. I am reluctant to yank / force off the rotor until getting some feedback.

I did get some other feedback that since the rotor/hub can be moved several inches outward on the spindle that the outer bearing has in fact moved some from its original position and is probably getting caught on the threads of the spindle. However, I am unable to move it in either direction - even backwards.

I am going through all this because I probably have burnt up wheel bearing. When I removed the wheel, the grease cap fell right off and there was tar-like black grease everywhere - back of the wheel, on the disc brak caliper, and even splattered a bit on the inside of the front lower fender

Thanks.
