after i changed the oil (just before i posted the first time) i changed oil w/10-40 high mileage and added an additive to stop noisy engines then ran it for about an hour (no change) then i added a little bit of tranny fluid and at first it didnt work but it seems to be quieter at times and then it will start to make lifter noise.

Try running some 10-30 valvoline and add Z-Max for about 500 miles, if that don't work, you might just take it out and take it apart and clean it real good.
