the only way for coolant to end up inside is for the core to spring a
leak. Usually the hoses that connect to it are outside on the firewall
so failure there generally results in a puddle outside unless there's a
hole or poorly sealed part on the firewall. Which would tend to show
itself with rain water getting inside as well.
Expect to replace the core.
