[Classic Mustang] Re: lifter question.

I'm a bit late in replying to this, but are you sure it's a lifter noise? I had a noisy lifter ('65, 289)for months. I heard it at idle mostly when the engine was cold, but at some other times too. One day while adjusting the Holley, I moved a plug wire a bit and the "lifter noise" stopped. When I moved the wire back where it had been, the noise returned. The plug wire was allowing the high voltage to jump to the exhaust manifold. I know the difference between the sound of a bad lifters and high voltage spark jumping to ground. Usually each one has a distinct sound, but not this time...
