Thanks for taking a look Michael. By providing a bracket between the lower control arm pivot bolts and the frame it strengthens the mounting brackets and prevents flexing when cornering. Like the Monte Carlo bar up top, it maintains rigidity and helps keeps the car in alignment when taking turns at speed. According to Cobra Automotive's website it was used on Boss Mustangs, and I was told that style crossmember was used on cars which were set up for road racing.
