Corsa's were good handling cars. The problem was that the Corvair
handled differently than most other cars and the general public never
took the time to find out about that until they made an urgent maneuver
and lost control. Anyone remember the "Poor Mans Porsche" ads by Lime
Rock racetrack founder John Finch? He modified the suspension and added
some trick parts to the Corvair and made it a great handling car.
However, I still wouldn't trade my 65 Mustand for any Corvair.
In this month's Road&Track, Peter Egan has a nice column on "Classless
cars", meaning cars that anyone could own & drive no matter if they're
an entry level clerk or a CEO of a large corperation. Included in the
list are Model A Fords, the original Mini Cooper, the MGTD and of
course, Mustangs. How true! I can't wait for the snow to melt and for
the spring rains to wash away the sand and salt so that I can drive my
Mustang again!
