I recently changed the leaf springs on my 68 coupe. I had several choices and decided to go with the standard spring. I chose to get mine from the local spring shop in Richmond, VA, but you can also get a complete kit from CJ Pony Parts or LaurelMountainMustang (both places are on-line.) The front of the spring bolts directly into a sleeve on the underside of the car. The rear uses a shackle. The standard shackle is about 4" long and is standard equipment. I have heard of folks using other things to get the rear of the car to ride higher, but I chose not to go that route. Judging from the pictures you have on your site, you dad did get the rear up beyond standard. Getting the old springs out can be a chore. I had to use a cutting wheel to get the front of the spring off. The bolts were not moving no matter what I did (Impact wrench, heat, not even a saws all would do it). If you have a local spring shop it may be worth while to see how much they charge to put the new ones in.
Good Luck.

Years and years ago when my dad owned my Mustang, the stock leaf
springs started sagging (pulled a trailer) so he raised the rear up
with extensions (I don't know what else to call them). Well I would
love to replace the worn out springs with some new ones and do away
with the tacky looking "extensions" . My question is: do I need to get
heavy duty or standard duty leaf springs? I am wanting to keep the ride
height as level as possible. I don't pull a trailer with the car like
he did. My main concerns are that the standard spring will still sag
and put me back at square 1 or that the heavy duty spring will put the
rear of the car up in the air. Any advice is appreciated.
