RE: [Classic Mustang] 65 mustang speed issue...

Water??? How did that get in there??

How long do you figure the water was in there? Do you think that the
cooling coil in the radiator has a hole in it? Have you looked for
tranny fluid in the radiator?? The transmission operates at about
70psi in the cooler lines, so oil should have filled the radiator. If
it is still leaking into the radiator, you could have low fluid. That
would cause the symptoms you describe. (I think!)

Besides the usual stuff like the vacuum modular is not working right,
the bands are slipping, it could be that the pump is not making proper
pressure for things to operate correctly.

But then I am not an expert on automatics....

Subject: [Classic Mustang] 65 mustang speed issue...

I have a 65 mustang with a 302 connected to a c4 tranny and a 9in rear
end... and when I first got it on the road (full resto) the tranny puked
out all its fluids because there was water in it? and we just flushed it
out and put new fluid but cant get it to go over 60 it just starts
winding and we just recently got a rear end leak but it was fine and
always full before this problem started and thats fixed and the car
still doesnt go fast... new or rebuilt tranny in order? and also after I
let the car warm up a little.. the tranny doesnt got into drive right
away it like doesnt catch well.. my shifts come 1st, hesitant 2nd and
very iffy 3rd but only get to 65 or so max. any suggestions or tips will
be greatly appreciated.
