[Classic Mustang] Re: 65 mustang speed issue...

   Also......as far as clogged exhaust, you might want to check the flapper valves in the exhaust manifolds. These have a spring on them, that acts like a thermostat that opens the valve once the engine warms up. When cold, these valves are closed, supposedly to help it warm up quicker. I've had headers on mine so long, I can't remember if both manifolds have them, or just one. I "think" both do, so you might want to check and see if they will move by hand. Sometimes they rust, and will not work. On the rear of the manifold, you should see a spring, and a counter weight that you can push on to see if it will move. If not, it could be rusted open or closed (usually closed). Maybe not your problem, but worth a look see at least. We used to wire them open, just to keep them from rusting closed. Just a thought.
