[Classic Mustang] Heater Core Problem on a '72

We are having to replace the heater core on a '72 Convertible. It has
a 351 engine without air conditioning. We have the heater core but in
the process of trying to get it out, there was an accordian type of
tubing that kind of got destroyed. It appears to be foil covered
cardboard and connects to the carbon canister. It is approximately
3/4" in diameter. We have been unable to locate a replacement and was
wondering if any of you either knew where to get one or what to use as
a replacement. This was the original heater core so it is no wonder it
fell apart.
