[Classic Mustang] 6 Cyl. Intake Manifold Rear Freeze Plug

Happy New Year to all.

My son and I were installing his new Pertronix module (Christmas
present) in his 65 200 ci. and had a rough time. We got it in and
got it to fire off, (using a timing light to verify) and ultimately
must of had it very advanced, because we blew the rear freeze plug
out of the intake manifold/log as it fired up through the intake
manifold. At least that explains why we could never get it to run
very long, we didn't find the liberated freeze plug until we rolled
the car out of the garage so Mom could park her car in the garage,
you can see who rules in my house.

Now, the lesson learned here is to retard before you try to start it
up, looking for confirmation? With the pertronix module it is hard to
tell where the equivalent "points open point" will occur so, per the
instructions we installed the module and the collar that mounts under
the rotor and attempted to start it and adjust timing as normal. But
we never got it running. Anyone have any tips with installing these
modules. The instructions seem so simple. I do know that I need to
go and find a good 12v source at the ignition switch, but will tackle
two (see below) problems at a time.

The second question is does anyone have a clever way to reinstall the
rear intake manifold freeze plug, without removing the head. There
is only about 4-5" of room between the end of the manifold and the
firewall.

Thanks in advance

Neal
