I would suggest that the idle mixture screws be gently turned in
until they bottom before removal. Count the number of turns, it will
probably in the neighborhood of 1 1/2. This will give you a good
starting point when re-installing. A 1/4 to 1/2 turn can make a
significant difference in idle quality. If you don't have a good set
of instructions, try taking pictures during disassembly.
After the carb is rebuilt, idle mixture is set by turning the screws
in until the RPM starts to drop off, then backing off just enough to
restore the idle RPM.
