I installed the new style crossmember which connects to the lower control arm bolts as well as the frame rails. My car never handled well before I did the front end work last year so it's hard for me to judge how much difference it has made. To my surprise one of the best investments ($26) I made along these lines was a reinforcement piece from NPD which goes on the firewall lip where the tower braces or import brace bolt up. The first time I hooked up the brace I heard a deep rumble which I attributed to tire noise. I was close. Turned out I had bad wheel bearings but didn't know it. Yeah, that little brace made a BIG difference. A thicker sway bar with poly bushings, Monte Carlo bar, and cowl reinforcement will make a significant difference in ride and handling.
