It depends on the rest of the drive train and where and how you drive
it. I last put my 65 convert together a couple decades ago when 5+
standard transmissions were not so available. It has a slightly warmed
over 351W, FMX, 2.5 nine inch, 235-60-15. That 2.5 will get me off the
line in town good enough to get me in trouble. And trying to pass on a
two lane, starting at 55, I can comfortably pull it back to second.

The 2.5 in my wife's 73 Mach 1, 460, C6 also works well. My 73 Mach 1
has a bit less engine; 351C 4V, C6, 2.75 and 275-60-15. Here the 2.75
works well.

Of course these are all automatics. It would probably take a lot of
gears in a manual to work as well.
