As it applies to your current project, define "restoration". I consider
all vehicles as-built to be raw material for the owner to continue to
build-to-suit. My 65 has been a 44 year work-in-progress, tho not much
lately. But at some time just about everything has been removed and
replaced but not necessarily with the original type part. It now looks

I also have a 71 and two 73 Mach 1s. They are basically the same as the
65. All three of those I stripped to the tub - if it had a frame I
would call it a frame-off. I would definitely recommend that in your
case. Anything that can be removed should be.
As to how you put it back together, there are more options than you
probably ever will know about. As for me, my 65 is my favorite vehicle.
I will probably never get rid of it. But face it, it was built as a
cheap little throw-away. It now deserves better.
