Because of the folding up rear seat, the fastback is less susceptible to a fire in the passenger's compartment. The trap door would offer a lot more protection than the coupe with the cardboard cover. But $198.00 is a cheap insurance policy.

 

Did you ever see the TV report on the Mustang "problem"? It was on a few years ago and scared the heck out of me. Always wondered why the MCA didn't get on the stick and promote it - probably because of their affiliation with FoMoCo.
