[Classic Mustang] 64-1/2 Info

Thanks to all of you that provided great advice at looking in certain areas for rust, etc.  I struck a deal last night, and hope to have the car home this weekend.  It is a 64.5 (7/13/65) with a 260 engine.  I purchased the car from the original owner and it has only 32,000 miles on it.  Last registration year was 1972.  Been sitting in the garage since then with some sort of engine problem.  It is a plain Jane coupe, with the only options being a radio, heater, spinner wheel covers, power steering, and auto trans.  I am very well versed in Ford mechanics, and have owned a 69 Mach 1 for the past 34 years that I show in the Southern NJ area.  This will be my first real restoration, and want to do a ground up.  To avoid doing things twice, I would like to converse with guys that have done this before and would willing to be a source of advice through the project.  Any volunteers?  Thanks.  Phil

Thanks Ray, I am looking at an original owner 65, and it does not have the drivers door mirror, and no signs that it ever had one.  I don't know how anyone could drive without one!  Phil

I have a 65 that I factory ordered in Oct 64. It has a left door mirror
only because I put it there later. Everything was optional. The only
option I got was the convertible top. It now has lots of "options".
